IAIN-Manado, Tuesday, 21/09/2021, English Education Study Program held a Guest Lecture with the theme “The Orientation of MBKM (Merdeka Belajar – Kampus Merdeka) Curriculum in English Language Teaching” with the outstanding speakers from Universitas Lampung (Dr. Ari Nurweni.,M.A) and Universitas Negeri Jogyakarta (Nur Hidayanto Pancoro Setyo Putro.,Ph.D).

The event was started in the Morning at 09.00 WITA and attended by most of the students from IAIN Manado, general academic communities such as lecturers, head of study programs from other unviersities. The talks were monitored by Delly Sabudu, S.Pd, M.A who is currently being the head of language laboratory in Universitas Negeri Manado.

The activities were started by opening by Nofikasari Gobel as the master of ceremony and Welcoming Remarks by Nur Halimah, M.Hum. as the Head of English Education Study Program also the chairman of this event. In the meantime, Dean of Faculty of Tarbiyah and Teacher Training, Dr. Ardianto, M.Pd. attended to officially open and support this event.

In the following session, the first speaker, Dr. Ari Nurweni, M.A. presented the material, with the related and interesting topic for everyone, such as MBKM and The Curriculum of English Education Study Program, What are The Goals of Higher Education?, Curriculum of S1 English Education Study Program, Implementation of MBKM. Meanwhile, from the second speaker, Nur Hidayanto Pancoro Setyo Putro, Ph.D. presented about Merdeka Belaja – Kampus Merdeka : Preparing Highly Competitive Graduates In The Disruption Era, Including MBKM Policy and How students get the additionnal Competencies with 8 examples of “Learning Activities” in MBKM. In brief, the speakers had successfully explained that the orientation of MBKM is now happening and should be integrated to pursue the following objectives. In the last session, the moderator opened a discussion for participants. They looked very enthusiastic in giving questions and sharing what they need to do for further. (FS)
