IAIN Manado – Friday, 09/04/2021, English Education Study Program Students of FTIK Manado State Islamic Institute were invited for the second time as the guest speakers in Webinar Events Talk #12 with the title: ‘Community, Culture, and Environment’ that organized by the Department of Language, Arts, and Culture Management of Vocational College of Gadjah Mada University in a collaborative project of MICE Management Class, Indonesia Cross-Culture Communication Class and Public Relation Students’ Internship in 2021.

On this second invitation, the delegations from the English education study program were Windi Gerace Tinangon, Andi Anugrah, Sri Ayu Labagou, and Jihan Fahira as the speakers. They also collaborated with Sunan Kalijaga State Islamic University and Larantuka Insititute of Teacher Training and Technology.

As the master of ceremony and moderator, Karaninda Siregar from UGM took her chance again to led this webinar. Same as before, this webinar was started by singing ‘Indonesia Raya’ and continued by opening remarks from The Head of Language Laboratorium Vocational College of Gadjah Mada University.

Different from the previous one, this webinar was divided into six sessions. The first section was group 7, from The Vocational College Students of Gadjah Mada University, presenting about ‘Being Minority In Foreign Country’.

At the moment, English Education Students of IAIN Manado have placed the second session. In this session, they were talking about ‘Distance Learning Consequences: For Parents and Children’. Andi Anugrah started the presentation with an introduction to the topic. He was talking about the government policies in the Covid-19 pandemic Era. Then, Sri ayu continued showing some government regulations related to Covid-19 in the education field, for example, the policy of distance learning. Right after that, Andi elaborated some theories of distance learning according to the experts and followed by the role of parents that were presented by Jihan. The last material like “Parental Respond” and the conclusion of the presentation was brought by Windi.

Having finished discussing, the moderator gave two chances for participants to ask about the presentations of those two groups accordingly. Besides, English Students of IAIN Manado got two questions that were directly answered by Jihan and Windi.

Furthermore, the third session was group 8 from Vocational College Students of Gadjah Mada Univerisity. They were Aulia, Alya, and Galuh who talked about Cultural Feature in Batik.

In the fourth session, was speakers from the Larantuka Institute of Teacher Training and Technology. They were Emilia, Pius, and Anna who presented their topic entitled “The Value of Lamahorot Ceremony in Lodong Ana ‘Rites’.”

The fifth session regarded by the guest speakers, were from Kalijaga State Islamic University. Nafiatur, Sukmawati, Naufal, Ahmad, and M. Faqih presented their topic about “How the Baduy Community Preserve their Environment through Ancient Belief.”

Eventually, the last session was fulfilled by the main speaker, Wilis Rengganiasih Endah Ekowati, S.Sn., M.A as a Lecturer by the Sekolah Tinggi Agama Buddha Syailendra who discussed “Buddhists Arts”. She talked about peace, happiness, and how we can get them in everyday life in her speech.

At the last step of this webinar, it is hoped that the upcoming will be more attractive, the moderator revealed. (NG)
